It's been awhile...

Wow, apparently I haven't 'blogged' in a while. Between Facebook, IM, MySpace, email and Navy-parents.com, I try not to go on the computer that much. HA.
I've become absolutely obsessed with the Olympics. Ive been staying up late every night. Swimming and Gymnastics are my favs for now, although Track is starting tonight.
Aaron returns home tonight, and we're so excited to see him. Its really hard having him so far away. The kids are really excited. He comes in tonight, so I'll say my hello's tomorrow morning. He's already text me from the freaking plane asking to use my car. ((sighs)) But we'll get him for 10 whole days this time! We were actually planning a trip out there, but he was granted leave- and of course he'd rather come home. So, we'll plan another trip out there. Maybe around Christmas time.
I had a really hard day. It consisted of getting a pedicure and getting my hair done.

Laudie, where are you?!

I forget when you say to a kid "Sure I'll stop by your field trip" they really expect you to be there. And when I wasn't, I got a wake up call that started with "Laudie, I'm here already where are you"?
Last night was my late night at work, so I had today off. Actually, it ended earlier than normal so I was home by 1:30am. Kyleigh called around 10:30am and after I quickly got dressed, threw some pigtails in my hair--I made it to the park by 11am. Her class had just finished lunch so we all started our hike to the DQ for a treat. I was really happy about this because I got to have dairy queen for my breakfast/lunch.
After DQ I took 6 kids on a peddle bike ride, man that was exhausting. Then we met their teacher at the playground where she asked me to watch the class while she took some of "the quite kids" on a nature hike. Yep, I was left to look after the class for about an hour and 45 mins. That was harder than I thought. I have SO much respect for teachers. I was so bummed I forgot my camera.
Whew. What a day.

Sex and the City

I went to the Sex and the City movie last night. I think I cried half the movie. Michelle thought I was crazy. I was just so excited to re-connect with my girls, Samantha, Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda. The movie does not disappoint.

It's funny how when watching a good movie, the scene on the screen can bring you to tears because it makes you think of your own life, the good and the bad. But what's even better is looking beside you and knowing you are not alone.
I realized, while sitting and watching, that it wasn't just us, but the entire theatre, that was filled with (mostly) women, we all have our stories and struggles. And whether you know the person next to you or not, you have a special bond.
Being a girl is pretty awesome, if you ask me. And getting older is a lot better than I thought it would be.

Memories

Yep, this ones gonna be a real uplifter. Last week while on the train I remembered that it was my friend, Cayle's, Grandma's funeral. I thought I'd better call him and ask him if he wanted to meet for a burger at my fav place Matt's Bar. Of course he was in, so we headed to Matt's and ENJOYED some Juicy Lucy's (and a Grain Belt for me). On our way home I wanted to stop at my other favorite neighborhood spot--Dave's popcorn stand. Dave's popcorn stand is a little red box that serves some of the yummiest (is that a word) treats I've ever tasted. Growing up, I lived right accross the street from Dave's popcorn. I can remember BEGGING my mom for $0.75 so I could run over and get my single scoop of mint chip on a sugar cone. I wont even get into the Herb popcorn. It's quite posibly the best popcorn in the world. Yes, the world. And I would know, I eat popcorn about 5 times a week. Fo real.
Anyway, (this is getting long) I wanted to drive by my old house. This is the house where my parents first started out as a married couple raised 3 daughters and a grandson. I think they moved in when my sister Kimm was 2 or three, so that would be around l971 or somthing like that. They owned it for 25 years.

When I pulled up, I noticed the front door was boarded up and there was one of those orange notice hanging on it. Yep, our house has been condemed. How heartbreaking is that?! Aparently, the owners had the bank forclose on it, and when they left- they turned all the water on and it flooded for about a month. It just makes me so sad to think that someone would do that. But apparently you become bitter when the bank takes your house away. Jerks.

I checked the forclosure website, and if anyone is looking for a fixer-uper, you can buy it for $46k.

Here are my sisters and I. I love this picture of us, its on the steps of our old house. So many wonderful memories in that house.

Homecomings, BBQ's & Playdates

The Fab family had a great Mem weekend. Aaron was home, and he actually gave us a fair amount of his time. He told us "days with family, nights with friends"--fair enough.

Here's Dad shinning Aaron's boots. I think he was shinning those damn boots for over an hour. He was out at it again this morning. He thought one on the boots needed extra attention.

As always, we had some YUMMY food. My Mom made BBQ chicken, ribs, corn & much more.
Whenever Air is home--all eyes are on him.

We took the girls to the park yesterday because they 'were bored' although when we got to the park--they were bored there too. Go figure. Ky, Si, Kait and Aaron played a little baseball in the front yard.
Tonight we're going to the families favorite restaurant- Olive Garden. I absolutely hate the OG, but its Air's favorite and since he's leaving tomorrow, I will go along.

First blog

Hello everyone-
I thought I would jump on the blog-wagon. I'm a fan of MANY blogs (that I read daily), so I thought I would start my own. I'm not very interesting, so let me know if you get too bored and I'll try to spice things up a bit.
Today is Friday--the start of a 3 day weekend! Yippee. Aaron is coming home for a long weekend. He should arrive sometime around 9pm. I'm really excited to spend some time with him. It will be nice to have the whole FAB clan together all weekend. I'm just hoping Aaron will throw us a bone, and not want to hang out with his friends all weekend. But, he's 19 and doesn't get to come home often, so I can understand him wanting to hang with his buds.
I'll post some pictures of the 'homecoming' tomorrow.
