Yep, this ones gonna be a real uplifter. Last week while on the train I remembered that it was my friend, Cayle's, Grandma's funeral. I thought I'd better call him and ask him if he wanted to meet for a burger at my fav place Matt's Bar. Of course he was in, so we headed to Matt's and ENJOYED some Juicy Lucy's (and a Grain Belt for me). On our way home I wanted to stop at my other favorite neighborhood spot--Dave's popcorn stand. Dave's popcorn stand is a little red box that serves some of the yummiest (is that a word) treats I've ever tasted. Growing up, I lived right accross the street from Dave's popcorn. I can remember BEGGING my mom for $0.75 so I could run over and get my single scoop of mint chip on a sugar cone. I wont even get into the Herb popcorn. It's quite posibly the best popcorn in the world. Yes, the world. And I would know, I eat popcorn about 5 times a week. Fo real.
Anyway, (this is getting long) I wanted to drive by my old house. This is the house where my parents first started out as a married couple raised 3 daughters and a grandson. I think they moved in when my sister Kimm was 2 or three, so that would be around l971 or somthing like that. They owned it for 25 years.
When I pulled up, I noticed the front door was boarded up and there was one of those orange notice hanging on it. Yep, our house has been condemed. How heartbreaking is that?! Aparently, the owners had the bank forclose on it, and when they left- they turned all the water on and it flooded for about a month. It just makes me so sad to think that someone would do that. But apparently you become bitter when the bank takes your house away. Jerks.
I checked the forclosure website, and if anyone is looking for a fixer-uper, you can buy it for $46k.
